Cycletype explores the flicker sensation of old devices experienced on the subway in a new spatiotemporal context. The performance is based on a rotating device that continuously plays numerous individual images, a rotary shutter in front of a projector, and mirrors.

I believe the possibility of encountering the world precisely through the acceptance of incomplete images. I invite the audience to enter the apparatus, to become film themselves, and to perceive a fragmented scene-light. By focusing on how sensations independent of the device repeatedly appear in changing places and forms,  the project touches upon the phenomena of rotating systems and the resulting motions that become apparent to the audience.
